Aftercare

How to protect your installation โ€” and your warranty.

Following a few simple aftercare guidelines ensures your film cures correctly, performs at its best, and stays covered under warranty for the long term.

โฑ

Allow 30 Days to Cure

Do not clean the interior surface of newly tinted windows for 30 days. The film adhesive needs time to fully bond. Small water bubbles or haze visible immediately after installation are completely normal and will disappear as the film cures.

๐Ÿงน

Clean Gently

After the curing period, clean interior surfaces with a soft microfibre cloth and a mild, non-abrasive window cleaner. Never use ammonia-based products (many standard glass cleaners contain ammonia), abrasive cloths, or razor blades on the film surface.

๐Ÿšซ

Avoid Abrasives

Scratches from abrasive cleaning materials are not covered under warranty as they are considered misuse. A soft cloth and the right cleaning product is all you need โ€” film doesn't attract dirt the same way bare glass does.

๐Ÿ“‹

Keep Your Invoice

Your Xero invoice from Shaws Window Tinting serves as your warranty record. Keep a copy for your records โ€” particularly if you're selling your home and want to pass the warranty to the new owner. We also keep records of every installation we complete.

Common Questions

Warranty questions โ€” answered.

The lifetime warranty covers defects in the film itself โ€” peeling, bubbling, delamination and discolouration โ€” as well as workmanship defects such as edge lifting. It applies to all residential flat glass installations completed by Shaws Window Tinting and covers both the film and the labour to rectify any covered issue.
Lifetime means the life of the installation โ€” not a fixed term. Quality window film professionally installed typically lasts 15โ€“25 years or more. Our lifetime warranty means that if the film fails due to a manufacturing defect or workmanship issue at any point during its life, we'll come back and fix it at no charge.
Yes โ€” the warranty transfers automatically to the new owner. You don't need to do anything special. The new owner simply needs to contact us if they ever need to make a claim. We keep records of every installation we complete, so we can verify the work regardless of when it was done.
Simply call us on 0431 068 013 or email shawstinting@gmail.com. Describe what you're seeing and we'll arrange a time to come and assess it. There's no excess, no paperwork, and no third party involved โ€” just a direct conversation with us and we'll sort it out.
Commercial installations are covered by a 10-year warranty on film and workmanship. This reflects the higher wear and tear typical in commercial environments. The coverage is otherwise the same โ€” film failure, delamination, discolouration and workmanship defects are all covered.
Yes โ€” small water bubbles or a slightly hazy appearance immediately after installation is completely normal. The film adhesive requires up to 30 days to fully cure, during which these imperfections will disappear. If you still have bubbles after 30 days, contact us and we'll come and assess โ€” that would be covered under warranty.
